    How to Repair a Car Horn:



    Check the Fuse

    • Locate your car's fuse box and open it. The vehicle's owner's manual tells you exactly where it's located. You are likely to find it under the dashboard on the driver's side
    • Remove the fuse that corresponds to the car horn by using a fuse puller or needle nose pliers. The inside cover of the fuse box usually is imprinted with a diagram that helps you determine which fuse to pull. It it does not, consult the owner's manual

    • Examine the fuse to determine whether it's in working condition. Inside the fuse's clear plastic housing is a strip of metal that runs from one prong to the other. If the strip is visibly burned or broken, replace the fuse

    Check the Horn Button

    • Remove the screws holding the cover of the steering wheel assembly in place by using a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the cover
    • Inspect the horn button for dislodged screws, broken pieces of plastic or anything that might prevent the button from being fully depressed
    • Remove any obstruction. Replace the cover and screws

    Check the Horn Wiring

    • Raise the hood of your car. Disconnect the battery using a ratchet wrench or an adjustable wrench
    • Locate your car's horn. Your car's owner's manual should tell you exactly where it is
    • Disconnect the two wires attached to the horn with a ratchet wrench or an adjustable wrench
    • Clear both of the horn's contact points of corrosion or buildup with a piece of folded sandpaper
    • Reattach the wires to the horn. Hook up the car battery. Test the horn. If it still doesn't work, you have two options: replace the horn or contact a mechanic
