How to Repair the Car Instrument Cluster:

The car instrument cluster is a vital tool which must be continually maintained and serviced to ensure a safe journey for yourself and everyone else in your vehicle. If your instrument cluster becomes damaged, you should repair it immediately. If some of the bulbs in the cluster have stopped working, then you simply need to replace the damaged bulbs. If the problem is more serious, then you should replace the entire instrument cluster.

• Enter the driver's seat of your vehicle and locate the lever to open the hood. The lever can be found on the lower left-hand side of the driver's seat. Open the hood. Loosen the bolt attached to the negative battery terminal with a wrench. Lift the negative cable off of the battery.
• Press the tabs behind the steering wheel, which will allow you to alter the height of the wheel. Move the wheel as far down within the steering column as it will possibly go. This will allow for the best access to the instrument cluster.
• Find the cowl trim on the dashboard. The trim will either be made of rubber or plastic and can be found around the outer layer of the dashboard. Remove the two screws that hold the trim in place with a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the trim from around the instrument cluster.
• Unscrew the three mounting screws that are attached to the cluster. Slide the cluster out of the dash. Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear. Unscrew the broken bulbs from the cluster in a counterclockwise direction until they come free from the cluster. Install new bulbs by turning them in the opposite direction. Keep turning the bulbs until they can no longer be turned to ensure that they are fixed firmly in place.
• Attach the instrument cluster to the dashboard by following the removal steps in reverse. Connect the negative cable to the battery terminal and fix in place with the clamp bolt. Turn on the engine to check that the cluster works correctly.
